ParcelBeam

Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 August 2026 · applies to ParcelBeam for iOS, macOS, Windows and Linux

The short version: ParcelBeam collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no servers of ours. Your files travel directly between your own devices over your own local network.

What we collect

Nothing. ParcelBeam has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifiers, and no backend service that receives your data. We — the developer — never see your files, filenames, device names, IP addresses, or usage of the app.

Where your files go

Files transfer directly from one device to another across your local network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), using an open local-network transfer protocol. They are not uploaded to any cloud, relay, or intermediary server. If the two devices cannot see each other on the same network, the transfer simply does not happen.

Transfers between ParcelBeam devices are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and each device verifies the other's certificate fingerprint against the identity it announced.

What stays on your device

ParcelBeam stores a small amount of data locally, on your device only, which is never transmitted anywhere:

Deleting the app removes all of it.

Permissions we ask for

The one internet connection

The desktop app checks GitHub once after launch, and every few hours, to see whether a newer version exists. That request is anonymous and read-only: it sends no identifying information beyond what any web request necessarily includes (your IP address, seen by GitHub, not by us). It can be ignored entirely — the app works fine offline. The iOS app makes no such request.

Children

ParcelBeam is a general-purpose utility, collects no data from anyone, and is not directed at children.

Third parties

There are none. No data is shared, sold, or disclosed, because none is collected.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, we do not expect meaningful changes.
